What We Practise

At The Osteo Group we treat members of the community seeking treatment for the following services

Exercise-based rehabilitation involves movement and instruction – sometimes with limited manual therapy – to enhance physical capacity or movement in patients who have sustained an injury, undergone recent surgery or have a chronic illness or injury.

We also work with patients who have experienced a loss of normal functional ability who need help with recovery and want to improve their overall health and wellbeing.

If you have sustained an injury, undergone recent surgery, or have a chronic injury or experienced loss of normal functional ability, our Osteopaths can provide an exercise-based rehabilitation program specific to your condition and needs by working with you to restore functionality and manage your pain levels and symptoms.

Osteopathy is a safe and natural practice of treating the body during all stages of pregnancy. We work with women preparing for and during pregnancy, as well as after the birthing process.

Osteopathic treatment post birth is safe and recommended to help the body return to its normal state if you feel any pain or discomfort, or for correcting imbalances that may occur (most commonly in the pelvis, lower back and mid back region).

Pelvic related pain and subsequent injuries is a common symptom post-birth. We can tailor an exercise program targeting the pelvic floor and apply manual therapies directed to the pelvic region.

Our team may also develop a management plan consisting of exercises, movement-based approaches and manual therapies targeted to aspects of the body needed to prepare it for optimal birthing outcomes.
Post-birth we may need to assess the physical components of the body that have been impacted or weakened by the birthing process, any traumas sustained, or develop a management plan to strengthen and condition the impacted areas.

As registered treating practitioners we help to get injured clients back to work. We work with workers compensation agents, private insurers, employers and other health practitioners as part of an interconnected network.

We can provide a range of injury management approaches to assist in your rehabilitation designed to;

  • Assist in recovery from a workplace injury.

  • Prevent long-term workforce absence or disability.

  • Safely manage your daily activities to gradually resume pre-injury tasks and improve your conditioning for every day, sport or work-related tasks.

We’ll assess your pain to identify the cause of the pain, what may be influencing your pain and discuss a treatment plan which may include exercises to strengthen or train parts of the body to cope with pain. We may practice manual therapies for pain relief and provide guidance on how to manage or position the body to relieve or avoid further pain or reoccurrence.

We often provide our patients with a unique rehabilitation program that meets your needs to help build your physical and mental resilience.

As primary healthcare professionals we can assess sporting injury risks and impacts, provide advice on movement for sporting performance, and seek to prevent muscle, joint, tendon and nerve injuries occurring in sporting activities.

Osteopathy can help you recover quickly from your sports injuries to ensure you’re as resilient as possible going forward.

Our aim is to design the right rehabilitation and performance plan for you that may include specific exercises to enable you to return to your optimal strength and performance levels.

Who We Treat

What We Treat

It’s estimated that 90% of Australians will experience back pain once in their lifetime. The symptoms of your back pain can vary and usually depend on the underlying cause, which can occur in any of the following ways;

  • Joint sprain
  • Muscle Strain
  • Sciatica (nerve root damage).
  • Disc Problems
  • A pinched or compressed nerve in the spine
  • Narrowing of the canal that contains the spinal cord (spinal stenosis)
  • Or general conditions that cause long-term pain such as fibromyalgia

Early diagnosis and effective treatment will help reduce your pain levels, improve the muscle tension in the area and restore motion to your spinal joints.

We know back pain can be intense and uncomfortable. We’ll carefully work within your pain tolerance. Our experienced team of Osteopaths can help reduce the symptoms of back pain and outline the preventative measures to help prevent reoccurrence.

Elbow pain can be much more than tennis elbow. Many elbow injuries are caused by overuse which can be quite painful. After listening to your history and examining your elbow and surrounding areas, we’ll detect the likely cause and tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.

Depending on your condition we may use a range of treatments such as massage, movement exercises, strength exercises and stretching. The aim is to reduce muscle tension around the elbow, wrist and forearm, and to relieve pain.

We may guide you with some exercises to strengthen the muscles in your lower arm and other areas. Soft tissue techniques to loosen the muscles in the forearm and surrounding areas can greatly assist with reducing pain of tennis elbow and settling inflammation around the area of the affected tendons.

Qualified Osteopaths are trained to assess and treat any bone, tendon, ligament or muscle damage to the foot, ankle or heel. Some of the more common causes of foot pain derive from osteoarthritis of the foot, ankle sprains, stress fractures and Plantar Fasciitis. It’s important to seek help when you feel pain or when your normal activities become difficult.

Pain and pins and needles in the hand or wrist can be distressing, but often responds to Osteopathy treatment. Hand & wrist pain can often be a symptom of Arthritis. Our Osteopaths are trained to assess and diagnose many of these presenting complaints.

Chronic headaches and migraines are complex conditions, which may be triggered by many factors, including diet, hormones, sleep, nutritional deficiencies, neck pain, jaw pain, mental health and exercise.

The osteopathic approach to treating headaches can include soft tissue and muscle energy techniques, mobilisation of joints and rehabilitation exercises.

Hip pain can be a common occurrence from patients of all ages. The hip is the largest joint in the human body that carries up to five times your body weight and if sore and left untreated this can impact your daily movement.

Common hip conditions we treat can be down to arthritis, bursitis, muscle injuries, tendon injuries or referred pain from the lower back or knee. We may use a range of techniques to help relieve pain, increase movement and improve strength.

Jaw pain is very common and often affects women who are four times likely to suffer from the disorder. Jaw pain can be caused from a variety of sources including teeth grinding, joint problems, sinus problems, jaw clenching, muscle tightness or weakness or mobility problems in the jaw or upper spine. Jaw pain can sometimes be a symptom of other issues such as headaches or earaches.

Joint pain can arise from injury or inflammation, whether from an impact or overuse of the joint. During your osteopathy appointment your Osteopath will use physical manipulation techniques to move, stretch and massage the muscles. This will increase the blood flow to such areas, and can improve mobility, relieve muscle tension and help your body to heal resulting in joint pain relief to give you more comfort with your exercise, range of motion and daily activities.

There are many common causes of neck pain which happens when muscles around the neck and back have become strained, overstretched or damaged.

Pain and tension in the neck can severely interfere with your daily duties and affect people of all age groups. The symptoms of neck pain can be mild or severe depending on the cause. Pain or symptoms can include stiffness, headaches and tingling or shooting pain in the arms and hands.

To treat your neck pain we’ll discuss what might be relevant to your symptoms, health history, any medications you take, plus your work and lifestyle. We may also need take perform some physical testing, which can involve certain movements or exercises. You may receive a treatment and management plan tailored to your symptoms, conditions and needs.

Some of the most painful conditions we treat aren’t related to sports or training, instead, they’re linked to the simple day-to-day components of everyday life – your remote working environment, posture in your office chair and lifting duties or injuries that have arisen from just bending to pick something up.

Our Osteopaths never underestimate the strain that these everyday factors put on our bodies. A detailed consultation and assessment will help us understand where your posture problem may lie, how we can use a series of manipulation techniques to treat it, and how we can make sure you avoid these kinds of issues going forward.

The shoulder is a complex joint and a common source of pain.
1 in 3 people will experience shoulder pain regardless of age or fitness. Shoulder pain can be due to an injury or accident, or via natural wear and tear with aging that occurs in the shoulder joint.
